David Sowinski- Mandolin, 5 String Banjo, Fiddle, Vocals

David plays mandolin and sings lead as well as background vocals. As a life long player, with influences ranging from Bill Monroe to Bucko Shuey, Hank Williams and the Dillards, David is among the best local mandolin players and really adds flair to the Water Gap Band. He is a song writer and also plays banjo on occasion. An all around good guy who knows the importance of a smile, it’s a real pleasure to have David in the Water Gap Band.
In David’s own words-
“Early influences were the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Eagles and Led Zeppelin. After attending a bluegrass festival at Waterloo Village and seeing Bill Monroe I was absolutely hooked on bluegrass. Bought a 5 string banjo and took some lessons and never looked back. Around 2001 I began jamming at my church and fell in love with the mandolin, bought one and my band mates were great teachers and mentors. Have been working on the fiddle off and on and my goal is to master it and bring it into the music of the Water Gap Band.”
